Turn any Doc into a Dashboard

Presight enables users to transform any Data Doc into a dynamic Dashboard with a single toggle. This feature ensures that all data widgets in the document automatically reflect the current time period whenever users view the report. It provides a seamless way to keep data up to date without manual adjustments, making it ideal for tracking ongoing metrics and insights.

What is Dashboard Mode?

By default, a Presight Data Doc acts as a static report showing data based on the time range you selected when creating charts, tables, and other widgets. However, enabling Dashboard Mode turns the document into a live, dynamic dashboard. When this mode is activated, widgets in the document will always display data up to the current time period.

For example:

  • You create a chart in November 2024 showing Sales Data.

  • If Dashboard Mode is enabled, when you return to the document in December 2024, the chart will automatically update to display Sales Data up to December 2024 without requiring you to make any edits.

How to Enable Dashboard Mode

  1. Open your Data Doc in Presight.

  2. Navigate to the top-right corner of the document menu.

  3. Locate the Dashboard Mode toggle.

  4. Turn the toggle ON to activate Dashboard Mode.

Once enabled, all time-based widgets (e.g., charts, tables) in the document will adjust automatically to reflect the most up-to-date time periods.

Example Use Cases

  1. Sales Performance Dashboard:

    • A chart displays "Monthly Sales Data" for the current year.

    • With Dashboard Mode enabled, when December begins, the chart will automatically update to include December’s Sales Data.

  2. Customer Acquisition Dashboard:

    • A table shows customer acquisition numbers for the "last 7 days."

    • Every time a user views the dashboard, the table will reflect the most recent 7 days, keeping the insights current.

  3. Revenue Trends Analysis:

    • A Line Chart displays revenue growth up to the current month.

    • With Dashboard Mode on, the chart automatically includes the latest month’s data as time progresses.

Notes and Tips

  • Widgets Adjust Automatically: All time-based widgets, such as charts, tables, and calculations, will dynamically pull the most recent data.

  • Manual vs. Dynamic: If Dashboard Mode is turned off, the document remains static, reflecting only the time periods initially selected when creating widgets.

  • Consistency: Use Dashboard Mode for documents that require live monitoring and ongoing insights to ensure consistency and relevance.
