There are two primary options for importing data: Connect to a Data Warehouse for Using Connectors to Import Data to Presight.
Data Connectors lets you import data from a variety of external sources into the platform for further analysis. This method is ideal for organizations that need regular updates from third-party applications or data repositories without establishing a persistent connection to an external data warehouse.
Supported Sources: Presight's Data Connectors are compatible with many popular data sources, including Google Sheets, CSV files, SaaS platforms, and other RDBMS databases. These connectors allow you to import data directly from each source, streamlining your workflow by centralizing data from different systems.
Data Synchronization: With Data Connectors, users can configure scheduled imports to ensure their data remains up-to-date without manual intervention. This feature is particularly beneficial for organizations that require consistent access to the latest records from their operational tools.
Your data is housed in multiple, decentralized applications that need to be regularly synced onto Presight.
Your organization prefers scheduled imports instead of maintaining a real-time connection to external databases.
Specific subsets of data are required from different systems, enabling focused imports.
For teams with a centralized data warehouse, Direct Querying from Data Warehouse is a highly efficient and secure approach for data access. Instead of importing data into Presight, this option allows Presight to directly query the organization’s data warehouse. This method minimizes data redundancy, leverages existing infrastructure, and ensures you are always accessing the latest data without delay.
Real-Time Data Access: With direct querying, Presight interacts with the data warehouse in real time. This allows you to analyze and visualize the most current data without waiting for scheduled imports or data syncing.
Data Security and Compliance: Direct querying minimizes the need to replicate sensitive data outside your team’s secure data environment. This approach is beneficial for organizations with stringent compliance requirements, as data remains under the company’s governance within its own infrastructure.
Reduced Data Redundancy: By querying data directly, Presight avoids creating duplicate datasets within its platform, helping your team save storage resources and reduce potential issues around data versioning and synchronization.
The organization has a robust data warehouse (such as BigQuery, or AWS Redshift, Snowflake) and prefers to maintain all data centrally.
Real-time access to data is essential for decision-making, as with operational dashboards or live analytics.
Security and data governance concerns necessitate that data remains within the company’s own infrastructure.
